Vertical Angle Calibration of a Theodolite

ثبت نشده
چکیده

Theodolites are one of a wide range of geodetic measuring instruments used in the geodesy, surveying and civil engineering industry. They are used to perform accurate angle measurements in both horizontal and vertical planes. Testing and calibration of these instruments is quite a complicated task, especially their vertical angles. Calibration of horizontal angles can be performed relatively easier by using angle reference standards, but these methods cannot be practically used for calibration of vertical angles. This paper will describe and investigate other practical methods for calibration of vertical angles. The first method is based on the polygon-autocollimator system. The polygon has 12 mirrors that gives 300 angle increments. The second method is based on a trigonometric angle determination.

Simplified theodolite calibration for robot metrology

Theodolites represent a well-established 3D-point-measuring technology. However when used for robot applications they have to be properly calibrated to fulfil the necessary accuracy requirements. The theodolite calibration methods, which have been reported in the literature, involve the use of costly sophisticated equipment not easily available to most users. Therefore, a new simplified calibra...

Calibration of Kelvin clamp Euler angles for absolute instrument orientation

A method is described for calibrating the Euler angles of a kinematic Kelvin clamp in order to absolutely calibrate the orientation of an instrument. This paper covers a method for calibrating all three Euler angles, with an emphasis on the rotation about the vertical axis. This method uses a fixture employing a theodolite with an autocollimating eyepiece and an autocollimating prism.

DI3 - A New Procedure for Absolute Directional Measurements

The standard observatory procedure for determining a geomagnetic field’s declination and inclination absolutely is the DI-flux measurement. The instrument consists of a non-magnetic theodolite equipped with a single-axis fluxgate magnetometer. Additionally, a scalar magnetometer is needed to provide all three components of the field. Using only 12 measurement steps, all systematic errors can be...

Structured light system calibration method with optimal fringe angle.

For structured light system calibration, one popular approach is to treat the projector as an inverse camera. This is usually performed by projecting horizontal and vertical sequences of patterns to establish one-to-one mapping between camera points and projector points. However, for a well-designed system, either horizontal or vertical fringe images are not sensitive to depth variation and thu...

Magnetic Calibration of Three-Axis Strapdown Magnetometers for Applications in Mems Attitude-Heading Reference Systems

In a strapdown magnetic compass, heading angle is estimated using the Earth's magnetic field measured by Three-Axis Magnetometers (TAM). However, due to several inevitable errors in the magnetic system, such as sensitivity errors, non-orthogonal and misalignment errors, hard iron and soft iron errors, measurement noises and local magnetic fields, there are large error between the magnetometers'...
